Wikipedia. One of the few clients I can name openly. India had among the highest usage of the site but one of the lowest donation rates to the Wikimedia Foundation. We ran a study on how and why users donate to online platforms, then redesigned the ask – changing both the messaging and introducing small “sachet”-sized donation options. The result: a ~40% increase in Indian contributions the following year.
Longitudinal Study on Credit Card Habits. A PE firm wanted to track how their portfolio company's cards were becoming top-of-wallet. As someone who genuinely enjoys optimizing credit card rewards, I found it fascinating to watch spending habits form around benefits. We tracked real user behavior over time – it was like seeing loyalty being built one swipe at a time.
The Time We Mapped Delhi's Streets. A client wanted to conduct a census of retailers stocking bathroom fittings. A client needed a census of retailers stocking bathroom fittings across Delhi. The logistical nightmare: meeting tight deadlines, ensuring genuine data collection, and covering >90% of all relevant retailers. We solved it with a ground operation that could fill a textbook. The effort built a unique capability for our firm, and the client got a dataset they could actually trust.
The Time We Shadowed Bakery Trucks at 4 AM. A PE-backed bakery was acquiring a smaller regional bakery for its distribution capability. One of our tasks was to audit the physical delivery of loaves of bread. That meant tailing delivery vans before dawn, counting loaves offloaded at each shop, while dealing with aggressive dogs, suspicious police, and grumpy staff. The deal went through.
The Time we Hunted Cars in Bangalore. A leading auto OEM wanted to run a car clinic with very specific requirements – exact car models, customer profiles, and intense logistical constraints. The highlight: tracking down and interviewing India’s very first Tata Nano buyer!
The Time We Mapped 10k Deals Across the World. A VC needed to prove their thesis on passive investment in early-stage startups. We built one of the largest datasets on startup successes and failures, modeled hundreds of portfolios, and validated their strategy. The VC went on to raise a $100 million maiden fund.
The Time We Tasted the Food Before Everyone Else. A major QSR chain was entering India and customizing its menu for local palates. We were brought in to test early prototypes. Naturally, that meant we got first dibs on every new product before it hit the market. Best. Project. Ever.
